An update to Puzzle Quest 2 has been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted.
The major changes include:

Invite Friend button in multiplayer launches friend invite UI again
Enhanced mod support, per mod start up scripts are processed at game start up
Fixed problems where game gets stuck completing the main quest line with Steam set to offline mode
Fixed start up crash relating to shaders effecting a small number of users
Fixed start up crash for users with G35 headsets or 7 channel audio setups
Fixed a crash when dragging the scrollbar if selling a large number of trade items
